Joan Ritcey, Head of the Centre for Newfoundland Studies
, will be working her last day on Friday, February 2nd. Joan has worked with Memorial University Libraries for 38 years. Throughout her career, she has warmly welcomed students, faculty and researchers to the Centre, sharing her extensive knowledge of all things Newfoundland and Labrador. With great care she has collected and preserved the print culture of our province, making it widely accessible through digitization initiatives and research tools. The Periodical Article Bibliography
was developed under her leadership and is an essential tool in finding articles about all aspects of life in Newfoundland and Labrador. Joan has always promoted the resources of the Centre to the university community but in addition, she has spread the word to the greater community by joining associations, chairing committees and organizing symposia. We will miss her energy and her warmth and wit every day but look forward to the great things she will accomplish as a retiree.
